This ZINE features photographs of B-boys I encountered around the summer of 2023~

Dance is a form of expression born through the body—intimately tied to sensation. It leaves little room for lies or pretense; it reveals only the truth.

As a DJ, my expression flows through layers: through feeling, through records, through music. Each layer shapes what’s released into the world. Photography works the same way—the emotion travels through the lens, the film, the print. Every stage distills the moment until it’s finally revealed.

The message doesn’t get lost. In fact, I believe the fewer the filters between sensation and expression, the less space there is for falsehood—less distance between what’s felt and what’s shared.

B-boy battles are fascinating because they make the inner world visible. Just by watching someone move, you witness their spirit. It’s raw, instinctive, and deeply honest.

Every B-boy I met was incredible in their own way. Each had a unique kind of cool. Words aren’t needed—just watch them dance, and the truth becomes clear.

But it wasn’t only in the battles. Even outside of dancing, there was a sharpness to their senses, It made me realize something: only the unvarnished truth ever really resonates.

You can use the most elegant words, surround yourself with beauty—but if there’s no real feeling there, people sense it. There’s a kind of hollowness that nothing superficial can mask.

Whether I’m flying high or feeling low, I’ve come to believe that just being present—with whatever honest emotion I have—is what truly connects. That’s how you reach people. 

Meeting B-boys taught me the value of staying true to myself. 

Their expression is always fresh, always honest. That’s the side of B-boy culture I saw.

出会ったBBOY達の写真をZINEにした

ダンスはアウトプットの方法が身体だから感覚と直結していてより嘘や誤魔化しが通用しないものだなって思う

djだと、曲を使ってレコードを使って

感覚から何個かのフィルターを通ってアウトプットされる

写真もそう。カメラとフィルム、プリントのフィルターを通ってアウトプットされる

それが伝わりにくい訳じゃないけど

時々、感覚からフィルターが少ないモノの方が

ウソや誤魔化し感覚とアウトプットのズレが少ないように感じる時がある

BBOYバトルは見たまま、感じたままが

その人の感覚や内面を表しているのが見ていてわかるのが面白い

私が出会ったBBOY達はみんな本当にかっこよかった

多くを語らなくてもバトルをみたら分かる

ダンスだけじゃなくてどんな遊びをしていても、彼らは感覚が鋭かった

本当の事しか人には伝わらないって最近よく思う

どんなにきれいで上手な言葉を並べても

どんなに高価なものが目の前にあっても着飾っても

本当の気持ちがそこにないとどこか違和感を感じたり何か満たされない感じを感じる

本当じゃない事は心地がわるい

自分の調子が良くても悪くてもそんな事は関係ない

その時の感覚や自分が感じている今が

素直にそこにあることが人を惹きつけたり、人に伝わったりする一つの方法だなって思う

BBOYに出会って

より自分が自分に対して素直にいることがどれだけ大切かおしえてもらった気がする

彼らの表現はいつもフレッシュでウソがない

これが私がとらえたBBOYの側面
